Saw you last night at the Blue Ridge Jamboree. What a great show! You, Peg, The Reed Island Rounders and the Carolina Travelers were all outstanding! It was a special treat for me that Andrew was in the audience. I'm so glad you singled him out. I am a librarian at the high school he attended and I had not seen him for a couple of years. I'm so glad the two of you are friends. He is a very special young man. Thanks again for a fun night.

David,
You will never know the impact you had on our attendees at our 24th Annual convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota!
After having suffered the tragic loss of one of our board members during the week of our conference, you were the right prescription for the closing night of conference --- gentle humor for the hurting soul.
Thank you and God Bless you in all your endeavors. If you need a recommendation, please don't hesitate to use our organization.
God's greatest blessings to you --
Diane

As someone who has known David from the pre-deputy days, I'd just like to throw my two cents into the pot. David does Barney with such apparent ease that many folks might not appreciate the vast amount of work that David has done over the last 20 years developing the skills he uses so well. He's truly a talented man and I'm thrilled at the success he's enjoying and proud to call him friend. Best wishes for continued success!

It has been a pleasure to get to know you these last few year so nice to know that people still do enjoy the finer things of life. Those things that come from being a lover of "The Andy Griffith Show." Please keep up the good work you do in communities all over the US of A.

I just found your guest book and wanted to stop by to say 'hello'. This is big, really big. My friend (I only have the one) and I visited Mayberry Days last September. We did all the big stuff like eating at the Snappy Lunch, watching the parade, and visiting with Romena at Mrs. Wiley's for tea. Kinda felt like when you stayed at the Y up in Raleigh! Oh yeah, we did get pictures of you there on Main Street trying to keep the crowd under control....that was special.

Since Knotts won't "don" his uniform very often these days, we've got the capable physique and Phyfe mannerisms of one David Browning to keep the Barney phenomenon alive and well. While most Americans aspire their children to become doctors, lawyers, and politicians, as for me and my house, we're shootin' for deputies, county clerks, sheriffs, town drunks ("municipally impaired" is more politically correct), barbers, and lady druggists. Thank God for the levity provided by modern Mayberrians Newsome, Browning and the general population of WBMWTBB chapter. Thanks, and happy motoring. Hey David, I am one of the honored few who attended your first outing as the "Mayberry Deputy" in Blountville a few years back. You have always shown a great love and respect for the character. Thank you for being a friend, for the laughter, and for making us forget our troubles for a while. Looking forward to seeing you at "Mayberry Days" 1997. I'll have a T-shirt for you. As a law enforcement officer, there is a little Barney Fife in all of us. I use some examples of Mayberry in teaching Community Oriented Policing classes to police officers. Barney, I needed to write to you in regards to the speeding ticket you gave my 90 year old mother last month. As she has never had a traffic violation of any kind, this has rather disturbed her. She is now prone to yell unintelligble comments regarding that "pipsqueek copper", which I assume is referring to you. Just yesterday, as I drove into town for her medicine, she yelled at every police man we passed. This would not have such a problem, had she not also thrown her false teeth at one of them and hit him upside the head. I was charged with using my vehicle along with "a type of body part" as a weapon and now face 6 months in jail. Please understand, I am not telling you this so you could pull some strings for me. Actually, I am kind of looking forward to a few months without momma. What I want to know is, can she come live with you since you started all this!!!

David I know I drive you crazy when you come to the Cincinnati Ohio area with my video camera always in your face but it provides my friends and I hours of laughs and pure enjoyment. The reason I used Spielberg as my middle name is because when you see me coming you say" Oh brother , there goes Spielberg again". My friend Doug and I are always on hand when you and Allan are around. Thanks for the good times. The real reasn I wrote you is while you were performing in West Chester, Ohio this year I taped, as I normally do, a ton of stuff. I have a sequence with you dancing with a young lady to the grundy County Auction song and it is hilarious. You couldn't have rehearsed it and got it any better. When you see that I am taping you take the girls hand and dance to me and right up in the camera. Then you act like you are totally ready to pass out. I know you do all of these funny things but i don't knoe if you ever get a chance to see yourself perform. If you would like a copy I would be more than happy to send one to you. You deserve to see what we are laughing at. Let me know Ken Studer studer@one.net

You were fantastic. Even when you involved the audience in the fun you did it in such a way as not to offend anyone. the humor was great, clean, and corny. The best kind. I hope to see you in person again in the near future.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you at the car show. You and the P/T Cruiser were the main reasons for going. But, you made mine and my dad's day. You're RIGHT ON! with your portrayal of Barney. Thank you for being so generous with your time. My wife was thrilled to get an autographed picture of Barney Fife. I look forward to seeing you again - maybe at Mayberry Days. Good luck.

Mr. David, we just got home from Mount Airy. It was by far the most enjoyable time I have ever had on a trip. And, you are a very large reason why. With your antics, humor, and personality, combined with your hard work, dedication, and love for the show and its fans, you are everything we all love about Mayberry. A really good guy that you cannot help but like. We enjoyed not only seeing your character, but meeting you, David Browning the person, and getting to know you. You are indeed a very good man that no one could possible say that did not enjoy being around. Keep up the good work and we will see you in the future.
